New or Used
So, you're ready to start enjoying the RV'ing lifestyle! That's Awesome! Now you've got to think of the inevitable: Do I buy a NEW or USED RV?
A used RV is the affordable route — you get more RV per dollar spent. A new one brings financing options, a manufacturer's warranty, the latest features and no previous wear and tear.
Ask yourself the following questions when considering buying a USED RV:
- How many people have owned the RV?
- Are there any water damages that you can see?
- Do they have maintenance records?
- What's the mileage on the tires & have they ever been replaced?
What are these for?
They tell you what you might be spending on repairs, and whether the repairs already done were documented. Buying from a dealer means that documentation usually exists. If the answers give you confidence, buy used. If you want certainty about how the RV has been used, buy new.
Buying is not your only option!
Many RV dealers allow you the option of renting an RV. Have a look at buying against renting and work out which suits you best.
